Choose the right AI and pay less, without writing code.
OpenRouter is one website that reaches ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and hundreds of other AI models from a single account. You pick the best one for each task and pay only for what you use.
If you already use ChatGPT or Claude and you are tired of guessing which tool to trust while the bills add up, this course gives you one calm place to compare those models, pick the right one for each job, and keep your spending under control. We do not just point at hundreds of options. We show you the handful that handle most real work. Built for owners, consultants, and operators who are comfortable with a browser and copy and paste.
This is for you if
- You are 40 or older and already use an AI chat tool most weeks.
- You want more control over what you pay and which model does the work.
- You are comfortable in a web browser and can copy and paste.
- You want clear steps, real numbers, and honest trade-offs, not hype.
This is not for you if
- You have never used an AI chat tool. Start with a beginner course first.
- You are a developer who needs code and API integration. This is chat-first, on purpose.
- You want guaranteed income or a hands-off money machine. We do not sell that.
The problem
Most professionals over 40 are in the same spot. You pay for one or two AI subscriptions. You are not sure you picked the right ones. New models come out every few weeks and you have no simple way to compare them. Your costs creep up and you cannot see where the money goes. And every tool wants your data. You do not need another subscription. You need a way to see your options in one place and make a clear choice.
What changes after this course
- You use one screen (openrouter.ai/chat) to reach hundreds of models instead of juggling tabs.
- You have a personal shortlist of three to five models you trust for real work.
- You read a model's price the way you read a menu, so cost is never a surprise.
- You run the same task on a cheap model and an expensive one and decide with your own eyes.
- You keep a simple cost-control routine that you check once a month.
- You know exactly what must never go into a public AI tool, and why.
What is included
- 8 modules, 38 lessons, built for someone who does not code.
- A copy-and-paste exercise in every lesson, run in the real OpenRouter chat.
- The starter shortlist: which models to try first, by role, and how to keep it current.
- The cost-control system: the ten-dollar habit, spending limits, free models, and a monthly check.
- The never-upload rule and a plain-words guide to privacy settings.
- Two full worked examples: a consultant drafting a proposal, an operator turning a messy report into an SOP.
- Your OpenRouter Playbook: a one-page SOP binder you fill in and keep.
- A course-wide FAQ and honest disclaimers.
The AI is the intern. You are the editor.
Every lesson holds the same line. The AI drafts. You decide. We show you how to check the work, spot errors, and keep the final call where it belongs, with you.
What you will work through
Two real examples
Dana, a 52-year-old consultant
She used to draft proposals in one expensive tool. Now she runs the first draft on a cheaper model, compares it against a stronger one only when the stakes are high, and edits the result herself. Same quality, lower cost, her judgment in charge.
Marcus, a 48-year-old operations manager
He takes a messy field report, redacts the private parts, and turns it into a clean SOP with a copy-and-paste prompt. What took an afternoon now takes twenty minutes, and he checks every line before it ships.
Safety and the never-upload boundary
There are things that must never go into any public AI tool: client names, financials, health details, anything covered by a contract or a law. The course gives you a clear never-upload list, shows you how to redact and use synthetic examples, and walks you through OpenRouter's privacy settings in plain words.
An honest word on results
This is a founding, early release of the course. We are not going to invent testimonials or savings numbers. What we will tell you is true: OpenRouter passes through model prices without a markup, free models exist for low-stakes work, and comparing a cheap model against an expensive one for the same task is the fastest way to stop overpaying. How much you save depends on how you apply it. We teach the method. The results are yours to earn.
One time. No subscription. Yours to keep, including updates to the course.
A fair review window: if you go through the first two modules and it is not right for you, contact us within the window stated at checkout and we will make it right.
Questions, answered honestly
Do I need to know how to code?
No. The entire course uses the OpenRouter chat interface in a web browser. If you can use a browser and copy and paste, you can do this.
Will this really save me money?
It can, and often does, but we will not promise a number. Savings depend on how you apply what you learn. We teach the method honestly and show you the math.
What if I run out of credits?
You add more when you want to. OpenRouter is pay-as-you-go with no subscription. The course shows you how to set a small budget and a spending limit so you stay in control.
How often do AI models change?
Often. That is why we teach you a method for choosing and comparing models, not a list to memorize. Your shortlist stays current because you know how to update it.
Is my data safe?
The course has a full module on privacy, the never-upload rule, redaction, and OpenRouter's privacy settings. You will know exactly what to keep out of any public tool.
What is Model Fusion?
It is a newer OpenRouter feature, currently in beta, that sends your question to several models at once and has a judge model combine the best answer. We show you when it is worth using and when a single cheaper model is plenty.
Does The Leveraged Years earn anything if I use OpenRouter?
No. OpenRouter does not have an affiliate program today, so we earn nothing from your usage. If that ever changes, we will tell you plainly.
Who is this not for?
Raw beginners who have never used an AI chat tool, and developers who need code and API integration. This is the advanced, chat-first track.
We point you to tools we actually use. OpenRouter does not pay us a commission. We never gate the teaching behind a link. New to all of this? Read our plain-language guide, What Is OpenRouter and How to Use It, then come back.
